Not only the hearts of full-blooded developers are a bit higher when it comes to code and its complexity but also other nerds know the beauty of a well-written program code so much to win and would certainly like to take a closer look here and there.
For those who are nerds at heart, there is a great and interesting infographic, which represents how many lines Code for different software is necessary. And there comes quite a surprise in terms of complexity.
Google overcame all
Two billion lines of code are hardly imaginable, but these were counted among the Google services. If one assumes that one million code lines correspond to about 18,000 print pages, that would be a nice reading, which could be packed into countless books.
This figure is even more gigantic if, for example, the software of today’s car is held with about 100 million code lines – or a strategy game like Age of Empires, which just needs a little more than a million lines.
Additional figures:
- Microsoft Office 2001 requires more than 25 million lines of code
- more than 50 million lines of code were written for Facebook
- Photoshop v1.0 came out with just a bit more than 100,000 code lines
