It is Wednesday, half the week is done. Time to read something to smile about! In marketing, many statements were made which are intended to attract users as a feature. There is nothing against it, if these statements also correspond to the truth. Some customers take this very seriously and test whether promises are kept – and the vendors do not reckon with this. Sounds confusing? It isn’t. Rather, it is actually quite funny, what happened with the cloud service of on Amazon.

Amazon has made a promise with its cloud service, which the irritated user “Beaston02” expressed for a really manageable year the amount is what attracts us to Amazon Drive with unlimited storage space for pictures, videos and documents. When Amazon formulated the offer, they probably thought only about the usual amount of pictures and videos from the last family vacation – but not securing his very extensive porn collection as well. The already mentioned “Beaston02” brought in six months of porn to load on the cloud which came to a considerable amount of 1.8 petabytes. In HD quality, this corresponds to a play length of 900,000 hours or, more simply, 103 years.

Beaston02 usage did not really reach the limits – he could have uploaded more. However, the fun of the action was lost so others lead the project from him to try and find limits. Beaston02 emphasizes that he has no addiction problem with regard to the porn, but the hoarding of data is simply a collectible. And with the uploading of the collection, he also wanted to check whether Amazon holds their promise. It was all quite disinterested so he says at least.

Amazon offers by the way, are no longer unlimited space, but has limited the offer to 1 Terabyte. For the private use it is still more than enough but the porn collection must then be saved elsewhere!
