When it comes to search engine optimization, there are always other things to keep in mind. Some are absolutely logical, others doubt at first, whether it is really a recommendation or a joke. For example, when we read about link building without linking which can have a positive impact on the ranking. That sounded a bit strange at first but there is actually something to this message.
Time and again there is a discussion about the importance of link building in search engine optimization. Some consider it the most important aspect, others say that meaning has diminished. And now, besides the actual links, there is another interesting factor in the optimization: mentions without linking. These, according to some experts in the field of SEO, are becoming more important. Google depends on the behavior of the users and adjusts the rating of a link accordingly.
Not every place, where a website is mentioned, you set the link. For example, this is often the case in social media postings. Here Google reacts and realizes that there is no need to always have a link to give relevance to a website, and it is even so smart that it is recognized whether the mention is in a positive or negative context.
This was also confirmed by Gary Illyes, Google’s employee:
“Basically, if you publish high quality content that is highly cited on the internet – and I’m not talking about just links, but also mentions on social networks and people are talking about your branding, crap like that. Then you are doing great.”
Also, a patent that describes this technique was discovered a few years ago – so it really seems to be something to the “links without links” turn. But that does not mean, of course, that conventional link building has no meaning. Rather, it is important to use both to optimize, in order to achieve the best possible effect.
